food plot for birds?

Hi,

we are interested in growing a food plot for the birds that live near our house, they frequent the bird feeders & our small backyard garden but we're still new to this so we are wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what seed to grow for these birds?

We have doves, ducks, moorhens, migratory geese, hummingbirds, catbirds, peacocks, quail, sandhill cranes, blue jays, cardinals, etc.

We already have a small section of cone flower, sunflowers, cosmos, marigolds, tickseed, black eyed susans & such for the regular backyard birds as well as parsley, carrots, zinnias, cosmos, catnip, mint, thyme & sunflowers for the butterflies & bees.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'd like to grow things that are easy to get, inexpensive, would germinate/grow & save seed from & would do well in Florida's hot/humid environment & sandy, poor soil.

Thanks for any suggestions!
