Botanics and phytoremediation

Hey, I am an architecture student at university trying to design an intervention for a specific site that happens to have low levels of radium radiation in the ground.
The site is also on the sea coast and is on a bay so the ground is highly effected by the tide coming in and out and from what small scale sampling we've been able to conduct, we can tell the soil is mostly alkaline pH.
I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me of any plants that could be used for a phytoextraction-remediation process on a salt water site?
The idea is to introduce vegetation to the site in such a way as to help 'clean' up the radiation without having to go to such drastic measures as concreting it over....
Any help would be very kindly appreciated as I am absolutely stumped on this one which is preventing me moving onto the architectural side of my project!
Thanks in advance!!
