I agree with grizzman. I cut some out of my creek area in the backyard, thought about saving them for some friends who do crafts. They ended up being poison ivy - missed some work that week!

Cut the vines near the ground (maybe 2") to kill everything above that point. Take out the vine above that cut as far as you can reach and burn it. I'm not 100% environmentally correct, so I would paint the vine's stump with Green Light's cut vine and stump killer, which can be easily controlled and doesn't take much per plant. An alternative may be to follow up at least weekly and burn any new shoots back to the stump until you starve the root to death. I've used both methods. It's possible that if you try to remove the living root system and miss some, each bit will become a new plant, multiplying your problem.
