Hey Dave- I grew up in Oakhurst and actually went to kindergarten at the Methodist Church. I was up and down Monmouth Rd. at least 6 times today and once I actually glanced up at the steeple remembering the day the put it up!! Very spooky!!! I always am amazed at the amount of birds in our area also. I now am in Shark River Hills (which kind of reminds me of Oakhurst) and I have quite the bird sanctuary in my backyard. I unfortunately do not have an awesome camera, as you do. I love raptors. I'm always driving on Rt. 18 looking at them soaring above-I have a convertible. I know...doesn't sound too safe!! There are many hawks in the area of Deal Rd.- just west of Logan. I guess with Palaia Park (Deal Test Site to me), there is plenty of room to nest. Keep posting those pics and hopefully you have some good painkillers for that tooth!!

I took my first winter trip to the Catskills today hoping to see some eagles.I checked a couple of places I've seen them before. NOTHING. I drove route 10 from Deposit up several miles along the reservoir NOTHING. As I was driving back something caught my attention on the dam. I turned around and went back to check it out. On the dam there is a service road. Along the road are concrete post. To my surprise there were 10 eagles sitting on these post. 5 mature and 5 immature. That change my record of ten different eagles in a week to ten in a day . The trip was a last minute thought. I didn't have my cameras with me

A couple that I'd thought of in Alberta and Saskatchewan have been named already ... but Saskatchewan also has a "Climax": one of the students in our theological school came from there. Central Butte, Findlater, Porcupine Plain, Lucky Lake and Duck Lake are in Saskatchewan, also. ole joyful

That year (2011), the farmer told me he saw a mountain lion walk across his front yard, cross the street, and head down my road (towards my house lol! Yikes). He also had a GREAT corn crop that year, and he swears it's because the mountain lion scared away the deer and raccoons. At the farmers market one day I was in a conversation with this farmer and a few other people, and I said, oh, he (the farmer) thinks he saw a mountain lion, and the farmer cut me off and said, "I didn't THINK I saw one, I DID see one!" He was adamant, and quite frankly I believed him. Especially when I was at his farm on the ground working and would suddenly look up at the tall grass beyond his fields and wonder if I was being watched. It was kind of spooky! Also, while looking up the 2011 sightings, I see there were sightings more recently too, in 2019 and just last August! My daughter lives down the street and says she is constantly hearing coyotes howl at night (and says it's creepy lol!) but I don't hear them. Perhaps there is a coyote route by her house.
