Eagle? Hawk? Squirrel hunter in eastern MA

We're out of our house this winter for renovations and with the three dogs gone, the squirrels have become fat and bold. A couple months ago we started seeing an impressively large bird of prey hanging around in the taller trees. Yesterday I saw this bird on the ground with a large, struggling squirrel. It flew off with the squirrel still struggling, but dropped it from about 10 ft in the air. The squirrel made a break for it, but the bird struck again, and dragged the squirrel off into the woods, where it presumably ate it.

Can anyone ID the bird? I'd seen the occasional owl before but only started seeing daytime birds of prey around our place in the last year or so. Sorry for the poor photo quality--it's a phone pic and I had to crop the heck out of it to get GW to accept the upload. The dark appearance to the wing underside is a shadow--the feathers were more similar to the breast.
