Badger in Thailand?

Posted by Dean87 (My Page) on

In Railay in Thailand, tonight I was watching a nocturnal creature dig in the grass most likely looking for insects. It had tiny eyes and must have been almost completely blind as I stood still and watched from just a few meters away. It looked quite like a badger I've seen in England similar size with a white stripe down the it's face. It had a wirey tail and was similar size to a badger as well. Was it a badger the same as in England? Any other suggestions?

RE: Badger in Thailand?

Very likely one of the widespread species of Civet. The Asian Palm Civet and Masked Palm Civet are both somewhat "badger-like" in overall appearance.
