Insect Wrangler Advice

Does anyone know someone who works with small bugs regularly? We're looking for some help on our film (to be shot in Jamestown, RI) and want to make sure that the insects are handled with care and respect.

The insects will appreciate the care more than the respect, and most people can handle them so. Do you need someone who can find certain insects for your film in the first place? What kinds of insects are you considering? For instance, many people would have a hard time handling wasps or spiders* with care.

Historically, insect wranglers have included beekeepers and various flea circuses.

There are a fair number of butterfly houses or exhibits around the country that are used to handling those insects. Some zoos have insect exhibits, people who volunteer there may be helpful to you.

I'll suggest that you contact the local U of RI extension office....or the University directly. URI has an entomology department.
