Yellow Jackets

OK, my situation is different. The YJ nest is in a craft lantern, It is a wooden box with a 'candle light' in it. The YJ have made a nest in it, and I have removed the whole thing to the woods near my yard edge. My problem is, the YJ that were not in the nest, keep coming back to the front porch where the nest was located. How do I get them to leave, and not come back?

They are about as persistent as robins when it comes to nest-building.

There are various wasp sprays (Hot Shot is one) that claim to repel wasps for weeks (it kills on contact). The can I used did not stain a planter box the YJs were using last summer.

The area can be washed after the wasps lose interest, as they will on their own, it could take several days. If you have a lot of foot traffic there, spraying may be helpful.
