When it is 102 degrees, the sparrows really enjoy a little water falls (sorrow about the too bright light)

sparrows in the falls

Until about a month ago, it was not unusual to see 15 to 20 species in or over the yard. Today I have seen only 7.

RE: Hot weather

here it was a very hot windy spring and summer with hadly any rain. but last few weeks have been getting afternoon thunder showers and has cooled off drastically. Now its 70's and 80's days and 40's and 50's nights. Sad because most of the orioles and tanagers and the Lewis Woodpeckers have left and the hummingbirds and grosbeaks are eating all the time geting ready to leave. we can expect frosts at night within the next month

RE: Hot weather

Our bird population has just about vanished at the moment but they will be back.
Yes, we spent several years in the Springs. Envy you now but won't 6 months from now. Enjoyed a whole different set of birds in CO from what we have here in southern OK. I guess just enjoy what you have where you are.
