Ran into a group of friends at the lake today. I tried to stay in the shade but they were sunbathing.

Wow, those are fascinating. It is really cool to see them in a group like that. We only have Turkey Vultures around here.

Great pics! Once, around Oct 31st there were 13 Black Vultures perching on the cedar fence posts in my neighbors field. It was very Halloweeny! I like their white shinbones.

Great pics. About two years ago we had a colony of black vultures and an occasional turkey vultures who would roost at night in the trees behind the house at the edge of a small woods. They would fly in in platoons of 10 to15 or more. It was quite a sight. We had up to 168 at one time and usually about a hundred every night for almost a year. It was definately spooky with the leaves off the trees.

You know, I've seen the occasional turkey vulture with these guys.
