Daylilies blooming for me (pics)
Comments (16)Sorry I forgot to answer questions. piksi,,I bought all of the new intros directly from the hybridizers. The rest I got from the Lily Auction. Jan, Mint Octopus measures about 8". It is sure pretty. Goldenzelle really is that bright yellow color, sort of neon yellow. I love and it bought 2 clumps. I think I have 7 bloom stalks on it this year. It is also pod fertile. Comments (40)lol... not to hijack this thread, but while I'll agree basketball takes more athleticicm, baseball takes more intelligence of the game and hand eye-coordination. I can hit three point shots all day and dunked when I was in highschool but put me in the cage against a 90 mph heater, even if I know it's coming I can't touch it. Another couple of notes: Dan seems to 'get the most' out of everything he plants. The blue iris against the yellow-gold leaves of A.Shir. 'Auream'. The blinding colors of A. pal. Beni Schischihenge. It's all just really amazing....See MoreSome pics
Comments (6)So far the only other birds are the titmouse family. I have some pics on my other thread "Sandra's Bluebirds". So far no HOSP have found it yet, but I'm working on taking them out. We've been luring the birds to another area and using a bb gun. I got the blind on ebay. It's just a chair with a tent over it, with a cup holder!! But it's nice to be able to move around and shift a bit and not disturb the birds doing it. I still had to listen for the blues and be ready to shoot.. they would fly off if my camera moves too much inside the blind. But so far they have done some calls each time they arrive. I have a bed of impatience and some of this mossy stuff that is in bloom now that would make some awesome pictures. I bought these tomato stakes that have a round horizontal loop at the top. I unwound that loop a bit to fit a small dish. I'm going to use that to lure them to photo areas.. I'll use a small pvc base to move it around until I get them going to where I want them.. then lay the dish in the flowers or use the stake to prop them up to the right height inside flowers. I did this last year and got pictures with some pics with boy blue and daffidils....See MoreNorthern Mockingbird ?
Comments (4)Congrats on your Mocker, and it's a nice pic!! Oh...those crazy Mockers. I just love mine. They can really dominate a yard, but they are so much fun to watch. I had 2 pairs that built their nests fairly close to one another in my yard this spring. It has been a riot to watch them try to coexist peacefully. They aren't always so successful, and squabbles break out often. Now, I am watching the juveniles "get their attitudes on." I think that one of my males has decided to try to break a Guiness World Record for the longest constant vocalizations. That boy sings all day long and all night long, flying from perch to perch to stake his claim to territory. So funny! Here is a recent shot of one of the parents with a fledgling in my yard, and another shot of 2 of the fledglings together.~~Angie...See Morelisa11310
