It's the size of Cardinal...Awesome looking.. I mean it caught my eye immediately...

Anxious to hear...

You have a Rose-breasted Grosbeak! Nice-the rose is obviously more of an orange shade instead of the rosy-red they usually have.

Well, the head was a brown color and when I looked this up it says the 1st spring male is brown colored..so I guess I saw the young one...but it sure was breath taking..I'm hoping it will come back cause it was at the feeder twice...I never realized how neat it is to see all these beauties...
I come back to Florida in Oct and stay till the end of June...and I can't wait to see what else will fly in ...

Just awesome...What a beautiful gift of nature..and where I live as a "Snow Bird" is surrounded by huge oak trees..

If I see him again I have the camera ready and I'll post it..

Thank you so much ..God Bless BarbZeee

Just a word of warning. If you have a tube feeder that Squirrels can pry the lid off, Grosbeaks can and will dive head first into the tube and get stuck. Never had any other bird do that but had 3 or 4 Grosbeaks do it. I have since changed feeders.

thanks Lisa.. My big feeder is an open flat type with roof and it gets crowded some days and then the other feeder I have for the smaller birds is a hopper type and I use a torpedo sleeve to keep the squirrels out..they keep trying but have not been able to master it..so my birds are fed..but those Doves...my oh my they get in the big feeder and kick out the seed..so they make the squirrels happy and me.. a little ticked off...Hahaha.. I'm so enjoying this never thought I would..but ya never to old to learn new "Stuff"...appreciate nature every day..

God Bless
