I want to grow a small 4 foot by 4 foot square foot garden for my chicken soup .. LOL .. and about 40 - 50 tomatos for an in my garage low budget experiment. In my job I work with "big" plants .. that is they are already grown up .. well sort of ..... my job is to plant them and manage them to full adulthood and then old age. I'm embarrassed to admit my lack of experience growing things from seed !!!! It's just not in my job description. The only seed I grow is grass seed and not the kind you smoke. I find it funny how some of these items seem to be designed so well for germination on a budget. Good Day ...

I myself am trying some new houses this season. I made 3 houses from regular white 4" pvc pipe. The same measurements of the gilbertson pvc box. I also haven't had any activity in them except for a chickadee started a nest in one but moved to a different box. I am thinking maybe they don't like them as well because the color inside is white and not dark in color. I put them out in April so I may have been a little late but its still early in the season. If no bird tries them this season I will stain or paint the inside of the box dark and try again next season.

OK, if this shows up 2x I am sorry, I was typing along and the message just disappeared. I use one of the Mayo jars to keep my cone filters in that go with my coffee pot. If you wanted to disguise it, you could get a small bit of shelf liner or wall paper, put on the top, (molding and cutting so you can still open it) and then glue or screw a drawer pull to use as an opener. the only thing I am thinking of right now for the Benifiber jars is a Snowman or Santa, much like the Angel you already mentioned. I guess you could paint them up to look like Gnome/Fairey houses and stick them in your garden. Ellie

Do Not use this information above as a quote from me. He never said anything at all about pet warnings on products! Yes he tried to absolve the company of wrongdoing. It was I who requested testing. Lee Langsly, not only, did not say there were proper warnings on the products, he said they would NOT PUT THEM on the products due to extensive costs and having to fight organizations like PETA for animal rights testing. I've always felt that warning should be on the products so that our companion animals, mostly of the avian species, were not put into jeopardy. But, it appeared at that time that the cost of warnings & changing labels was not worth a concern about their consumers pets. I did continue my "crusade" to save our parrots, small animals, elderly parents and infants. He threatened me with a lawsuit. I was ready, but obviously this did not happen. I told him if he could prove his product safe or put a warning label on then I would stop requesting it and warning people. I still have the original article that I wrote on this subject, that first appeared in newspapers, and parrot/bird organization newsletters and magazines around the US and overseas. It almost seems daily, more and more products that are dangerous to our birds, small pets, elderly family and small children are being produced. I say now. Find my original article on the internet. Do NOT believe that I thought at any time that the company was helpful or showed any concern. Do not read bastardized articles of what I originally wrote on this subject.
