Juvenile Cooper's hawk? Seen in a Southern California backyard eating LBBs.
The photographer says: After this hawk ate its first meal, it stayed on its branch and looked
around for a while. All the other birds had fled the garden. Presently, a
pair of mourning doves and a handful of sparrows returned to check
things out. One of the sparrows learned what a mistake that was when it
couldn't get out from under a bush in time.
